Day 18 - From Soap Powder to Bourbon Slushes, Oh My!

We made it all the way to Harrisburg, PA and are staying at the KOA here.  My first job is to do the laundry (again); my but we can go through some clothes and towels!  While I was busy with wash, Davis planned some of the next 15 days of our journey using Garmin Road Trip, which gives a good indication of distances between points and travel times.  We made a reservation to go through the Air Stream Factory in Jefferson Center, OH and to have the Bambi checked over.  They have a place for us to camp with full hookups so we can arrive the night before, they take the Airstream in by tracker and we will have it back the same day (unless they find something to work on) - cool beans!
How small we feel next to all the Mac trucks and the huge motor homes with cars behind them!  We love the rest areas that have the double parking spaces for our rig and dog “bathrooms.”
Can you pick us out of all the giants
surrounding us at the rest stop?

Here she is - and what a cutie. She might be smaller,
but she's everything we need!

Oh yes, we did our business just like we were told to!

Next came a visit with Fred and Linda, our great friends we met in Israel in 1995 and remained friends since.  They have a beautiful home and we had a truly delectable meal after great frozen Bourbon slushes (sorry Linda, I can’t remember what they are really called, but I loved them - all 3 or 4 that I had - and I want the recipe) and nibbles.
Linda's grand scrapbook showed not only their
wonderful grandchildren, but also that their last
visit with us was way back in 2003!
Precious made a conquest as well - Max was quite taken with her and gave her so many kisses she won’t need a bath for a while!
Max found Precious to be just his type!
On the way to Linda and Fred’s home we were stopped totally still on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for about 30 some minutes in the West-bound lane while there was zero traffic in the East-bound lane; tow trucks and ambulances sped by, first going then coming back.  We knew what that meant.  When we finally started to move we saw what at first looked like a Christmas parade - at least a dozen of more flashing lights - then we saw what had happened;  in the East-bound lane two medium size commercial trucks were involved in a terrible accident.  The first had lost its entire front end the second was turned completely over on it’s side (ironically its load of bottled water was still in tact on its overturned bed.  Please, please, stay alert as you drive, watch out for distracted drivers, do not talk on the phone except hands free and don’t drive unless you are 100% alert - I don’t want to lose any more friends to traffic accidents!
Tomorrow we are going to Gettysburg with Fred and Linda - I’ll take pictures.
Shalom,  Heather . . .
