The day started dark and dreary, the early morning fog threatened to thicken, a crow shouted a warning to its mate..
Wait, can you see; I can't see; wait, what is that; where are we exactly; did you see that; I'm not sure I saw it; what was that; did you see it; I can't see; can you see yet?
..but this isn’t a novel, so I’ll just say we got up and through the fog and 43 degree temperature made our way onto Interstate 84. Heather is taking a well deserved day off so I’m writing today.
It's a good thing I've already found my Prince; sleeping beauty I'm not!
This was another 250 mile day, and very uneventful. After the fog lifted in Scranton the scenery was wild and beautiful, lots of mountains and valleys and not a lot of civilization to mar the view
Hey, Clyda, look at those strata - neat, huh!
(except for the 45 minutes we spent creeping along because of a wreck 6 miles ahead of us.. all I could see was the rear of the truck in front of us).
"How's my driving? Call BR549".
We topped out at 1793 feet about an hour into the drive. We were into the 60’s on Sirius radio (along with “Mustang Sally, “ Lady Willpower”, “Wild Thing”, Bernadet” (sp?),“Little GTO”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”, “Downtown”, “It Hurts To Be In Love”, “Lightning Strikes Again”, and “Kiss Him Goodbye” - you know you're singing along with some of these) and watching for potholes. (sounds like a country song) These roads up north can be really rough.
We are now in Woodland, PA, the weather is partly cloudy with lots of wind and it’s 73 degrees!
It may be 73 now but it's being chased by weather in the low 30s which means some rough weather ahead. Davis, get that heater out of the truck tonight!
Cold front tonight and clear sailing tomorrow as we make our way into Ohio. The trip is really starting to feel like a cross country trek, especially now as the overhead says we are headed WEST! It has been interesting to see the changes in the trees as we came north. We outran the spring with it’s multicolored leaves in Georgia and the Carolinas and are now looking at bare forests. I suspect they will start to come out in a few weeks. Lots of birch trees these last two days, Bucky Beaver must live up here. We made it to Woodland, PA this late afternoon and had the sunshine for a couple of hours.
Home Sweet Home for another one night stand.
We have only two more planned stops; after that it’s “come what may.” Davis is planning our next stay and how far we need to travel tomorrow.
Let's see, if I can make it to the border in time . . . .
Special thoughts go out to Art & Jan, Craig & Amy, Rene & Ellen, Shad & Simeon, Ann & Ashley, Judy & Dave, Cora and Bob, and Ed, (and as always to my Alexis if she's online - miss you sweet girl).
Night all and as always I wish you . . .
Shalom, Heather . . .
