Day 39 - 5/5/11 “The Longest Day, or So It Seemed At The Time (Branson, Missouri)

Not all state parks are created equal.
After a wonderful night and morning in Richland, MO at a quiet little campground beside a river, we took off for Roaring River state park in southwest Missouri.  We stopped in Springfield for lunch and to the local Verizon store to check on our little Internet access USB stick (we haven’t been able to get on for a couple of days), and then turned south, into the Ozarks. It was raining again.  We arrived at the state park, asked for a spot with electricity, and found that the park had power but did not offer water... that seemed a bit backward to us, and we decided to move on.
We looked up a campground in Branson, 30 miles to the east and headed there.  It took us an hour and a half to drive the winding,  mountain roads, most of it at 35 mph and in the rain, before we got into Branson. Then we were held up about 20 minutes waiting for an accident to clear before we arrived at the campground.  By this time we were pretty tired, hungry, and had missed Happy Hour (it was 6:30pm).  On top of all that we lost some of the pictures in the blog (we’re still trying to figure that out).
So, today was not one of the best of the trip, but as Heather said, at least we were not the ones involved in the accident.
Shalom,  Davis
Davis writes a good dialogue, but it wasn’t half as nice as he painted it - this was an awful day!  I couldn’t get the Blog done, somehow all the pictures were gone, I left my credit card in Springfield, MO (it’s OK now) and we both were completely out of sorts!  I’m writing this on Friday, the sun is out, the computer seems to be fine and I believe I can get the pictures back, one at a time (and we have found most of our sorts).  Sorry, several of you were worried enough to contract us - sweet of you!
Shalom,  Heather . . .
