Remember all my whining about how cold it was? Well, read on . . . .
Sometimes you get what you ask for!
We woke up to a beautiful day after a night with rain that put us to sleep. We drove about 180 miles today and the temperature kept creeping up and up until I was sorry I had on long pants and a 3/4 sleeve shirt. Davis was smart and put on shorts (of course his legs look 100% better than mine to begin with). The roads were smooth and the traffic flowed.
Miles and miles of different miles and miles.
We ate lunch at Subway and will have the rest of the foot-long for dinner (how easy was that!).
Oh my! Are we still in North America, or where?
Arkansas is very different than I had pictured it. We first encountered an obviously all Mexican/Spanish community as every sign and shop was in Spanish (with English sometimes as a subtitle).
The elevation in this part is quite high as we are still in the Ozark Mountains. It is so beautiful - pictures can’t do it justice.
We must have crossed a dozen of these - what an amazing engineering feat!
Can't explain this rock formation on top of the rise, but I liked it.
Two different rock layers - interesting.
I forgot to tell you that we past the 6,000mile mark yesterday at 3:20pm CST. Wow, neither of us feel like it’s been that long (41 days) or that far.
Hey, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Another engineering wonder on Instate 540.
Did I just see a sign for Interstate 40? Yes I did! Our old friend that will be with us all the way to Barstow, CA.
From Wilmington,NC to Barstow, CA.
The campground is very nice. Guess what I spent my time doing when we first arrived? You’re right!! Laundry! No more about that, I promise.
Home sweet Arkansas home.
Davis is planning his running route - not an easy task in strange territory.
Nice to talk with our son - makes us home sick to get to Amity.
As someone once said, "Very Interesting!" . . . . but not thank you!
Not much more to tell you; hope you can enjoy the pictures. Remember, any you are interested in, just click and enlarge.
Sweet dreams to all.
6,000 miles!!!! That's Amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Mother's Day, Heather!
Happy Mother's Day, Heather! Thank you for bringing such a wonderful man into the world. I am one lucky woman! And, now I get to have a whole other set of parents, too. How cool is that? Wahoo! Congrats on 6000 miles. Amazing!
