This was such a full day - I’m really having trouble with where to start and how NOT to write a book about it.

First the easy part - the weather: we awoke to a cool, sunny day. Started our drive and ran into misty rain. Half way to our destination it began to rain and a fog set in. At our destination the rain picked up and as we

drove along it turned to sleet. The clear skies behind us caught up to us for a while but we had BB-size hail for a short time. On our way down toward home it started to snow, sideways. Then the misty rain and finally at home it cleared up. The temperature never left the 30s and 40s during all of this. Whew - we did it all in one day! Amazing.
"What a treat; what's winter without sleet."
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas."
Hey, I bet my Grandpa is in the back room!
Now the harder part. Our day was spent in Canyon de Chelly in Arizona. It took us about 2 hours to get to that Visiter’s Center. Just before that we visited an old Trading Post that was still in operation. They had their own visiter’s center with many Indian artifacts, crafts (there was a lady there weaving a blanket), books, CDs, games, etc. I bought a jigsaw puzzle and would have bought a bunch of books except for our space problem. Then at the Trading Post itself we bought some food and a lovely shadow box with a small loom/weaving and the flowers and plants that the various dyes came from (I’m not explaining that very well - just look at the picture!).
Ours is much smaller (I couldn't afford this one) and packed for traveling, but you can see what I mean on this one.
So far this has been the gem of our trip (except seeing our special friends, of course!). This is where the words can’t do justice to the magnificent sights/sites in this grandiose (nope that’s not good enough), awesome (nope not close), overwhelming (it will have to do) place. It’s so beautiful and varied with colors and carvings (by wind, water and time) that every time I look there’s another site I missed the first, second or third time. I’m just gonna let the pictures do the talking.
Tonight we watched Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey jr/Jude Law version) - very entertaining movie - while I cooked dinner, ate and then I washed the dishes. Sorry I didn’t attempt the blog entry last night; I really was so very filled with what we had experienced. So actually I should wish you all “Good Morning!”
Shalom, Heather . . .
Looks like an Amazing Place.
