Today started with the promise of HEAT. We left Needles and headed East and then South through some of the least attractive landscape we have seen yet. It was dry and scraggly, and looked like a landfill without the garbage.
What an undertaking this was!
We drove about 40 miles and then came upon an oasis! A town, no, a city had popped up out of the desert surrounding a lake and on one end was the London Bridge! Unloaded brick by brick it was brought to this desert outpost in 1971 and rebuilt.
I've got a bit of Brit in me, ya know!
It was quite an attraction, and although this was “out of season” (the snowbirds had already headed north, see Florida) it was pretty busy.
The lake was fed by the Colorado river, the same one that flows by our campsite, and the water was crystal clear.
What did I do to deserve this?
We are sitting in CA looking at AZ. Amazing!
It actually only got to 91 today, and with low humidity, was very bearable.
