Day 64 - Memorial Day 5/30/11 “No Matter Where You Go, There You Are...” (tonight we are in Visalia , CA)

Historic Downtown - ah - nothing!

Today was very uneventful, unless you consider finding diesel fuel at  $4.15 just down the street from the station that was selling it at $4.79 exciting; I did.
A real Texas cacti.
[Heather here:  because of the lack of picture options today, I’m going to use a few from the past 63 days that I didn’t use at the appropriate time]
They're everywhere, they're everywhere!  (I know I
said that about the windmills, but these creatures
are also all over this place!
These are another "animal" we see a lot of out here!
We backtracked a bit as we headed northeast toward Fresno, California.

We only drove 106 miles, but we positioned ourselves
to have a short jump tomorrow to the Sequoia National Forest.

The scenery was beautiful;  velvet hills shimmering golden in the morning sun, then down into the valley which was as flat as a hot calm day on Bogue Sound.

Totally deserted town, amazing!!
I'd pay attention to that mouth!
I mentioned a weaver - well, here she is!
So that's where they're made - I don't think so!
This is agricultural country with field after field after field, all fed by irrigation and surrounded by signs bemoaning the current political climate which won’t let the farms have

all the water they want.  (eg. “No Water; No Jobs = Higher Food Prices’)
At 300 foot altitude we are in sight of a range of snow capped mountains which no doubt will be in the pictures tomorrow (we’re not close enough for them to show in a picture today).
Not gonna swim here - no worries 'bout that!
That's a little scary!

We’re having a great evening;  with a couple glasses of wine, the perfect temperature, (75) drying off from a dip in the pool and remembering that whatever we do we

will not get a birthday card to Michelle in time for her birthday... we say Good Night!
Shalom,  Davis . . .
This was our address at one time!
