Day 16 - Back in the Old Stomping Grounds Again . . . and Butt Sniffing

So many familiar street names - it’s good to visit again.  People are the most important memories, but places are too.  Our first home, the homes we grew up in, the schools and churches we attended . . . all somewhat the same but changed with time and age.

This was our very first "Casa". We bought it
and had $2.54 left for the rest of the month -
and we had no refrigerator
Many an afternoon or a summer evening were spent
here when we were both growing up.
We began the day with visiting our old neighborhoods, taking pictures as we went; we left Davis’ mom’s ashes at the church she loved so much and headed into town.  At one point we came to one of Richmond’s most beautiful parks, Dogwood Dell.  Both of us had spent countless hours there at various functions, but not together, as we grew up.  I hope you can see the amphitheater where free concerts and plays were given.

Cute name. Cute dog. Cuter guy!
New here? Never smelt that before!

Dogwood Dell now has a wonderful dog park called “Barker Field” So of course we had to spend some time there and let our furry sweetie run with other dogs.  She had quite a time.  Dogs’ greetings are not at all polite nor politically correct!  ‘Nuff said; a picture is worth a thousand words!

We had lunch with our very dear friend, Howard, who we call Chou-chou.  If it hadn’t been for Chou-chou there would never have been a Davis and Heather!!  So you can see why he is extra special to both of us.
We love our Chou-chou! (For those without French, look it up!)
We had lunch at the Virginia Museum and then a personally guided tour of the many new parts that have been added since we left some 37 years ago.  They are breathtaking!  The world comes to Richmond to see the Picassos on display from the National Picasso Museum in Paris!!  And I believe I’m correct in saying they have the second largest collection of Tiffany art, egg, jewels, etc.  Also, they have the largest pane of glass in the USA.
This is the largest single pane of glass in the USA;
those are not single panels - they are the supports!
The design of the new parts of the museum are a work of art in themselves, with glass elevators and walkways between the wings.  Words cannot explain how magnificent this jewel in Richmond’s crown is.  Thank you so much for the reintroduction, Chou-chou (and the lunch!).
What a sweet little heater; radiators rule!
Light rain this afternoon and talks with our boy!  We will need the little radiator heater tonight!

Life is good.  “Talk” to you all tomorrow.
Shalom,  Heather . . .
