I started to plan todays entry: “today was such a gloom old miserable, rainy day . . . “ when I suddenly remembered all that was going on in the world and suddenly I felt ashamed of my selfishness. What a wonderful thing it is to be able to get up, go, do, see, be with the one you love most in all the world, and laugh and cry and drink when I’m thirsty, eat when I’m hungry and never, never worry about where I’m going to sleep tonight (duh, we’re carrying our bed with us!). How much of the world can say that? Then, just when I thought I’d stopped crying (see yesterday’s offering), the Star Thrower, Rene, sends me this youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzgzim5m7oU and the crying begins all over again. I’ve yet to figure out why I have been so blessed in my life and others have such struggles. Just look at all of you!! I mean how lucky have Davis and I been to have had you in our lives! Each of you has added a piece or two to our puzzle and we love the picture, incomplete though it be.
A picture is worth a thousand words. "1 in 6 Americans struggle with hunger." Also, please check out the youtube vidio - we all need a wakeup call every now and again
We ate lunch in the Pocono Mountains, which sounds a whole lot more romantic than it actually was (great chili at Wendy’s). Davis had to tell me that we were in the Poconos. ‘Nuff said about that.
Davis had to do all the driving today; to quote him it was “arduous, a lot of two-lane, rainy, potholes, 35 mph speed limits in 4th (out of 6) gear. It’s the kind of night you gladly hunker down with a couple of glasses of wine and your two best girls and a good book”. Another quote, to Albert on the phone: “never did I think I’d ever get excited that I had found a service station that had diesel at $3.99.” Let me explain that yesterday we paid $4.29 a gallon after shopping around.
How I spend some of my time! Good Sam's map book and Good Sam's Campground list!
Always a welcome site - the checkered flag on the GPS!
Tonight we are having the best left overs anyone has ever had - thank you Linda. We are camping in Waterbury,CT, SW of Hartford. Tomorrow we move on to Boston (to see St. Ann) where there are no camp grounds open and it’s way too cold to stay at Walmart, so LaQuinta here we come! (We did not plan very well our trip to see St Ann; the Boston Marathon is Monday and we’ll be right in the middle of it. Oh, well it will be a great experience.)
A quick set up - we didn't even unhook from the truck; couldn't wait to get out of the rain into the cozy casita!
Most of you are too young to remember seeing Burma Shave jingles along the roadways, but here’s a cute one:
Don’t stick your elbow
Out so far
It might go home
In another Car. . . . Burma Shave
I wish you all a cozy and warm evening and special thoughts go out to Rene & Ellen, Art & Jan, Judy & Dave, Francis, Teresa & Judy (soon to be a mother-in-law!), Beth and Mr. Patrick (AKA Gordy - hey let me know if you’re following and did you get my message from Jody).
Shalom, Heather . . .
I loved the Burma Shave jingle signs! Love your attitude, too, Heather!
