“We're living in the twilight zone...”
That was Heather’s comment when we were trying to figure out which time zone we were in.
I'm having a trouble with these pictues!
Early in our trip today.
We found a Wells Fargo along the way and cashed a check or two, then ran into a fierce but brief storm, hail and all, and are now 200 more miles down the road in Hanna, Illinois.
Can't see beyond the front of the truck; flashers on - scary times.
That's hail bouncing off the truck cover!
And this is the rainbow after the storm.
Hanna is just over the “time line” that separates Eastern time from Central time, and it was the cause of some confusion on our part as we tried to figure out when we would arrive. (GPS said one thing, our watches and the car clock said another; thanks to the cell phones that changed as we passed over the line, we finally got the time correct).
Our haste to leave Jackson Center, Ohio was prompted by the many “severe weather” warnings every time we logged onto the Weather Channel website. We felt that the further north and west we traveled the less chance we would encounter severe weather. We hope none of you have any trouble because of the weather.
We are now firmly ( we think) in the Central time zone; 1 hour behind Morehead City, 2 hours ahead of Portland, 6 hours behind England, 18 hours behind New Zealand, 21 hours behind Australia...????? I’m not sure of any of this. In the 60’s Chicago recorded a song titled “Does anyone really know what time it is?” I’m starting to understand the lyrics now... especially when they sang “does anyone really care?”
This is the needlework I've started. Let's see if I can finish it before we get home.
Tomorrow we plan on a drive to Madison, Wisconsin, about 214 miles. That drive will take us around Chicago, which may be a challenge. We will be a day “early” but can use a down day before we plan to meet up with Margaret’s (Brian's sweet wife) parents .
Home sweet home, Indiana.
Tonight we are having delicious leftovers (our favorite meal) and will settle into our cozy casita. Precious is worn out from being afraid of the noise of the big trucks and her very first encounter with a train.
These are huge windmills.
Here is one section of a windmill ; they are really, really big!
They've had so much rain this month that the ground is all soggy - but these will be used when there is no rain; they're very impressive close up and personal.
Hey Ed, I see you’ve become a follower - cool beans! Alexis, I would love to hear from you again, sweet girl.
Dana, you have a great time and thanks for writing.
Ann, I'm having Limoncino tonight and thinking of you; Diane, look what you've started!
Can't wait to be your neighbor, Cora (hey to Bob).
Shalom to all, Davis (and a little from Heather) . . .
Shalom to all, Davis (and a little from Heather) . . .
I'm praying that you three stay safe in those midwest storms. No fun to be caught in a hail storm!
