Day 60 - “Movin‘ on Down The Line” - (We are in Mojave, California)

Not a sign . . . 40 just disappears into 15.

Major disappointment!!!   You would think that after a few thousand miles on Interstate 40 there would be a sign at the end saying “End Interstate 40”  But no, no such sign, it just fades away into Interstate 15 at Barstow, without so much as a whimper!
You have to go through security to get into CA.
We had to open the back of the truck but not
the trailer.
This is a travel day as we head for the California coast on Friday.  We traveled 214 miles west and most of that was headed into a 30mph headwind that almost ripped our doors off when we got out of the truck to get fuel.  Its a lot cooler here, about 70 degrees and still low humidity, so tonight will be real cool.

Again, miles and miles of miles and miles.
Lots of desert to see on the way here and not much else.  It is amazing to me how we can drive for hours and not see but one or two settlements, not towns by any means.

Rocky hills and . . .

. . . more rocky hills and  . . .

This campground is an oasis in itself, about 5 miles from the town of Mojave, run by an ex-marine who remembers his time at Camp Lejeune favorably.
(Heather will add a picture of it tomorrow).
Love the produce.  I missed taking a picture of the
street name, "Twenty Mule Team Road."
The most exciting thing we passed today was the town of Boron, home of Borax.........
Maybe wine country this weekend with wine tastings and trips to the beach will make for better reading... thanks for keeping up.
Borax plant out in the middle of nowhere

P.S. Heather's robins are coming right along!
