Day 61- 5/27/11 - “From Dry Desert to Hills of Gold” - (We’re in Los Paso Robles, California)

We left the desert in Mojave, California and drove west about 170 miles.

Not long after we left Mojave we noticed a change in the landscape.

The hills were softer, more vegetation, and much more habitation.  The pictures do not do the landscape justice (heard that a time or two have you!): rolling hills and golden grasses; a very pleasing sight to the eyes after so many days of dry tumbleweeds.

We eventually drove down into the valley that separates the Sierra Nevada mountain range from the coastal range of mountains (which we are in now).
Makes Davis long for 5:00!

The valley is lush with crops of all kinds.  Irrigation is king here;  I suppose we’ll learn where all the water comes from because it certainly is not from the sky.
We might see you tomorrow!

I'm with you girl!
The next three nights are here because of Memorial Day Weekend;  up till now we have counted on just stopping and finding a spot to camp.

Not so on the holiday weekend.  So, we will bide our time with wine tastings and a trip to the beach until we go to Sequoia next week.
Dinner tonight was fresh steamed local broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes and roast beef (Hormel’s).  We watched a DVD and got a little home sick.
Night all, Shalom,  Davis . . .
They put me here for having bad hat hair!

But then the Marshall was gunned down and I was set free.

This is where Davis waited for me to get our of Jail.

Oh my, Davis can we stop here?
