Day 73 6/8/11 “Homeward Bound” (we are camping in our own front yard!)

Go South, Davis, go South!
Sing along now...
“Will you still need me, Will you still feed me,
when I’m 64???”
The Beatles song is appropriate today as Heather turns...  64 !!  (We have the lyrics to the whole song if you are interested...)
We both had cuts here at
"Radical Rubies!"  Oh my.
We left Devils Lake campground about 10 AM and drove to McMinnville, Oregon to get haircuts and do a little shopping.

Main Street, Amity.

Amity main street again.

Best (only) place in town to get a great sandwich!
We went through Amity about 1 PM and stopped at our favorite sandwich shop for lunch and picked up some groceries across the street.

Next year's Christmas trees.

Hazel Nuts.

Then up the Eola Hills to the house.

We are about 800 feet up from the town of Amity itself (which is about 200 feet above sea level), and it’s only about 3 miles, so we spent those 3 miles in gears #4 down to # 2 (out of 6) going up Sky Vista until we got to the house.

Welcome to 8170 Sky Vista Drive!
Renovations under way.
Tom and Darien were there working and we set up the Airstream for an extended stay.
Shake siding going up today on the back.
You will notice that the house is not ready for occupation just yet.

Back before the new windows and shake siding.
The siding is going on this week and the interior is next.

Sun room almost done.

Sun room before
The sun room is ready for finishing as is most of the rest of the interior of the house.

We have some tile and other things to pick out but the end is in sight!    And it is a beautiful sight!

You can almost see the cork - it flew way up there!

We are now well into the bottle of Cooks Champagne, looking over the valley and celebrating our completed journey, our friends, out great good fortune, and what ever else we can think of.  It is a beautiful evening... it will probably be light here ‘til about 10pm, the sun is still way up in the sky... and we are home.
The Birthday girl and her dog admiring
the view.

The  view!

Thanks for riding with us!  Shalom, Davis

P.S. Stay tuned for the renovations!
