Day 9 - Quick, Someone Define "Epiphyte"

Drove today as far as we could in 6 hours with several stops - 300 miles. Finished reading Crocodile on the Sandbank (the Amelia Peabody mystery we've been reading aloud) and "found out who done it!  Starting the next in the series, The Curse of the Pharaohs, tomorrow.

Home for the night.
We chose a state park in SC this time and it's beautiful!  Lots of Spanish Moss on all the trees which indicates clean air.  Spanish Moss is actually not a moss at all and it's not from Spain; it's something called an epiphyte (plant which lives on another plant) and is in the Pineapple family!  It doesn't actually harm the tree it lives on except during hurricanes where it reduces the trees wind resistance, but it does cut down of the sun it receives.  (Sorry 'bout that, but I can't resist giving a mini science lesson whenever I can!)
I've never seen Spanish Moss in A Dogwood before.

We encountered a really "spiffy" Airstream tonight.  I took a picture from afar so as not to intrude on their privacy, but it's such a fancy decked out rig  - I "gotta work on that".

Quite a rig!
Hey Ann S., I took a picture of the "shoes" I've been wearing to show off my toes (not really - these are just practical during all the wet we've encountered and they're wonderfully comfortable).

Why have a pedicure if you're gonna cover your feet
Libby, are you with us yet?  Camping Turtle and I hope so.

Seeing Anita tomorrow in Ashville will be a delight; it's been over a year since we have visited the mountains of NC (and we used to go every August).

Can't go on . . . need to recharge everything.

Night all and Shalom,  Heather . . .
