Day 48- May 14, 2011 “And we thought Jamestown was old...” (this is our last night in Santa Fe)

Santa Fe, New Mexico, last year celebrated it’s 400th year as a city...  Lets see now, when the colonists at Jamestown were struggling to survive in 1610  (after landing in 1607), Santa Fe was thriving and was organized into a CITY.  Strange that we in the East don’t hear much about how the other side of the country came into being.

Meet the receptionist at Paws Plaza!
I was up early, thanks to Precious who needed to go out, REAL BAD, and then we were off to “Paws Plaza”, a doggie day care recommended by a fellow camper.

Precious  played with fellow dogs all day, was bathed, and is now laying at our feet totally exhausted.
Precious and all her new buds - they wore her out!

Mom and dad, however took the day to explore Santa Fe, at least the old part of the city.  Hopefully Heather can load some of the pictures we took.  Some of you have been here and know all about it.
He's making balloon animals.

I've always had a weakness for cowboys.....
....and intellectual men!
Everything you can imagine.
If you ever get the chance, it is a beautiful Old, Western, Indian, Spanish, Adobe style city with wonderful artists.

Well I can see I will need to do another load
of laundry soon - these are wonderfully drippy!

The Georgia O’Keeffe museum was closed, but we had lots to see.

There were street vendors out in the hundreds and the shops are small and quaint in this part of the city.

After great fajitas in the central plaza we picked Precious up and came back home.  Days are warm (mid 70’s) here but the nights get down into the high 30’s or low 40’s with lots of wind.  And, there is very little humidity (it’s now at 30%) so it seems colder than the temperature.
We’re settled in for the night!
Dancing in the street.

See ya!  Davis
(from Heather . . . Davis was a history major - can you tell!   Also, did you see my two new friends?)
