Day 51 - 5/17/11 “It’s A Very Windy Day-Off” in Gallup, NM

Up early to let Precious out.  Cool and windy out, with clouds!  Haven’t seen as many clouds since the Mississippi Valley.  Both of us woke up from a restless night, tired, so we decided to stay close today and go up to Canyon de Chelly tomorrow.  The wind is constant, gusting to 30mph, and it is still DRY!
The campground here is pretty full with many of the same people who were here last night. Evidentially the wind has discouraged many of us. For those who tow or push these huge RVs around a 20 mph headwind will eat up lots of diesel fuel.
This campground also has dinner and entertainment every night.  The dinners are very  good, and they offer BBQ which I tried tonight.  Let me tell you right now that Eastern North Carolina BBQ can’t be beat.  Give me a Boston Butt and about 4 hours on a grill and a bottle of George’s vinegar and tomato-based sauce and I’ll turn their heads.  Rosy and Eddie, I think about you every time the music starts!  He’s a very good singer (can’t remember his name, I’ll ask again today) and he plays all sorts of instruments during his show.  It’s just a shame the cool wind keeps most folks in their “homes.”  I had the catfish - oh my but it was good!
Tonight we stayed in and watch the DVD “ “Bee Movie.”  What a great lesson it was. Mother Nature sure knows what she’s doing.  If any teachers are “listening”, this 90minute movie would be great for after exams or EOGs.
Sorry, no pictures today.  Who wants to see a catch-up day anyway!  Tomorrow will be more interesting to you, we hope.
Shalom, both Heather and Davis . . .
