Day 47 - (5/13/11) - “Charmed by the Chama*” (Still in Santa Fe at the Santa Fe Sky RV Park

Cool night, good for sleeping (however, I awoke at 3am worried about the fact that neither house in Morehead has sold - I must have had a bad dream or something because this hasn’t kept me up before).
Ghost Ranch is 21,000 acres owned
by the Presbyterian church and used
as a retreat and learning center.
Are you quite ready to go?
Today was a traveling day to Ghost Ranch and back.  I must have taken 250 pictures! (Hope I can post at least 2 or 3! Check at very bottom).  Every turn in the road revealed another breathtaking vista.

We picnicked at Lake
What a perfect picnick spot.
Abiquiu (a man-made lake formed when they damed Chama River*) and then walked around Ghost Ranch for a while.  Davis has so many great memories of the place.  It was there that he was inspired to write many of his best works.
Ahhhhh. This is Ghost Ranch where Davis did a lot
of creative writing.
We had planned to tour museums tonight but opted for evening at home and early to bed.  It’s strange not keeping up with what’s happening in the world, but it’s also kinda freeing; if I can’t do anything about it, why worry about it.
...and then there were 5.

Night all.  Shalom,  Heather . . .
Camel Rock - wonder where it got its name?

Chimney Rock, ditto on the name.

Almost looks carved.

Davis has Pederal coming out of his head!

More that looked carved.

Man-made lake at Chama.

What a view.

I wonder if any of them are escaped inmates?

  1. Great Photos! How is the temperature in New Mexico? We barely got in the 50's today. Had a wonderful day of 70 on Thursday. It is so much fun to follow along with you two!
